GLS-1500Phoenix Sponsors TAG Conference

Phoenix Survey & Safety proudly sponsored the 32nd Theoretical Archaeology Group (TAG) annual meeting.  The show, held at the Wills Memorial Building, Bristol, ran from Friday 17th to Sunday the 19th December 2010 and proved a very successful weekend for all involved – despite the wintery weather!

Why did we sponsor TAG?
Hosted by Bristol University, the show attracted around 600 people connected with archaeology from all over the world.  Phoenix Survey & Safety realise that there is a large potential growth market for survey equipment within archaeology, with the benefits of using the latest technology being introduced through conferences such as TAG.

TAGSurvey Equipment in Archaeology
As part of a show demonstration the latest GLS-1500 Laser Scanner was used to map the prestigious Wills Main Hall and entrance. The GLS-1500 scanner allows it’s user to survey a site at up to 30,000 points per second accurately detailing an area with a 3D point cloud.

With high tech survey equipment and mapping techniques now more regularly used by archaeologists worldwide, the GLS-1500 attracted a phenomenal amount of interest with professionals hoping to create more detailed and focused research varying from surveying a cave dwelling to detailing the face of medieval church.

Site demonstrations can be arranged to allow the user to fully experience the benefits of Scanning, GPS and Windows based Total Stations with hands on field usage. If you would like more information on how surveying equipment can be used to revolutionise archaeology, please give us a call 01454 338985.
