Jersey Police purchase full Topcon Forensics Package

The Topcon Incident Management and Forensic Scenes systems offer the complete toolkit of measuring devices. The different instruments can be customised into systems with one common software controller and office software package. This means as your departments mapping needs expand, you can remain with the same software controller and office software.

The States of Jersey Police in the Channel Islands have just taken delivery of a Topcon forensic package that will assist them in the collection, analysis and production of evidence associated with road crashes and crime scenes.

Included in the package is Topcon’s GLS-1500 3D Laser Scanner and newly released IS-3 Imaging Station. Together these will provide the Jersey Police with the capability to capture evidential data at any forensic scene.

Simon Clarke, the senior collision investigator for the States of Jersey Police, said; “This new equipment will provide us with enhanced functionality to capture evidence at incident scenes. Not only will we be able to work faster but we will now have the ability to capture and view evidence in three dimensions. This, along with the ability to construct simulations, will help us to present evidence to courts.”

The 3D Laser Scanner is able to automatically capture a forensic scene, down to the smallest detail, and provide a moment “frozen in time”. This can be used later for analysis, reconstruction and presentation purposes.

Jon Skelton, Topcon’s business development manager for forensics said; “The States of Jersey Police have been a valued customer of Topcon Great Britain for many years and we are delighted to be able to provide them with a forensic solution. The GLS-1500 Scanner will provide them with state of the art technology that will enhance their current capability”.
